Bubba visits, Father's Day, funny stories

There's a lot going on in this entry! This weekend, Brandon's best childhood friend, Anthony (who we call Bubba), came to visit. He is also Miles's godfather. He lives in London but was in San Francisco for work, so he was nice enough to buy a ticket to St. Louis to come see us for the weekend. We had a great time hanging out. Brandon, Bubs and Bennett went on a brewery tour, we swam, went to the Farmer's market, and mostly just hung out indoors because our weather has been insanely hot lately!

Also, Sunday was Father's Day! Last weekend, we had gotten Brandon a new smoker/grill that he had been longing for, so his gift came early, but Bennett and I still brought him home some donuts and chocolate milk (his favorite) Sunday morning as a treat. We also brought Pa a latte Sunday mornning, and had him over for dinner. Here are some cute pictures of Brandon and the kids from Father's Day.

Funny story: Bennett loves Fancy Nancy books, and pretty much has them all memorized. The other day we were getting ready to leave to go to the library for a presentation about insects. I told Bennett she needed to take her dress-ups off and get her shoes on while I changed Miles's diaper and then it would be time to go. When I came back from changing his diaper, she had done the things I asked her to do, but I found her sitting behind our dining room chair looking very forlorn. I asked her what was wrong. She answered, "Mom, I'm heartbroken." So I asked her why she was heartbroken. "I just don't feel fancy, and I really wanted to be fancy for the insect show." So I said, "if I let you wear your dress-up headband to the show, would you feel fancy?" (it has a giant rose on it) She replied, "oh thank you mom, now I feel fancy!"

Oh goodness...what have we done? :)

Also, this picture is a few weeks old, but I accidently left my little camera at Grandma Rull's the last time we visited and I just got it back. (thanks grandma!) This is too cute not to post though...
